Brief Answer:
Please see a doctor immediately to confirm diagnosis and start treatment

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXX,
Thanks for writing in to us.

I have read through your query in detail.
Please find my observations below.

1. The testis is a delicate part of your body. If there is a sudden, severe pain and fluid collection in left testis then a testicular torsion is to be ruled out and it is a concern and requires to be seen by a doctor urgently.

2. If the pain in your case is less then is most likely an inflammation of testis and epididymis, however more serious causes need to be ruled out by clinical examination and doing ultrasound scan testis if required. Less likely it might be due to a hydrocele associated with hernia if teh onset has been over days to weeks.

3. Answers to the following questions might help to know the possible cause of your symptoms.
- Onset of pain and fluid collection. When did the pain start? When did you first notice the fluid collection?
- What were you doing when pain started?
- What makes pain better or worse?
- Sudden or gradual onset?
- Constant or intermittent pain?
- Any symptoms like fever, urinary symptoms or abdominal pain?
- Do you have a penile discharge, any genital lesions or rectal pain?
- Are you taking any medications? any past medical and surgical history, allergies which you might be aware of.

Please write back with requested updates.

Brief Answer:
Please consult a doctor to confirm a mild infection in testis

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXX,
Thanks for writing back with an update.

1. Should the pain be of sudden onset and be felt constantly then it is likely an acute cause. In most occasions, testicular pain which is relieved on lying down might be due to a mild infection of epididymis and testis. This is called epididymo orchitis.

2. Please consult your doctor immediately and get the diagnosis confirmed.

3. Epididymo orchitis is treated with a short course of antibiotics and anti inflammatory medicines for pain relief. Ignoring the pain might cause a severe infection.

Hope your query is answered.
Do write back if you have any doubts.

Regards,
Dr.Vivek
