Suggest Treatment For Small Bump On The Cheek

default
Posted on Mon, 22 Dec 2014
Question: Hi. So several weeks ago I noticed a small bump on the inside of my right cheek. It was shortly after I had a root lengthening procedure. As I do not have the best oral hygiene (as you can tell by my terrible teeth) I didn't think anything of it because I feel I've had similar things happen in my mouth before. Last week the bump seemed to become more prevalent, was raised, and white. The first photo(s) will show this. I scrapped it off by trying to pop it like a zit. It went away, then came back (second photos). I think it was in the same spot but I'm not sure. I scrapped it off again in the same way several days ago. Now, i feel like it's about to come back again, and the area still feels slightly raised. I can see it developing again I believe. I am a smoker (cigarettes), I don't have any significant medical history other than psoriasis, it is painless, it doesn't ooze anything/bleed.

Brief Answer:
can be inflammed sebacious gland or salivary gland

Detailed Answer:
Hello..First of all thanks for approaching healthcaremagic for your query.I read through your query and accordingly I feel that there is nothing much to be worried in this case.It can be just an inflammed parotid(salivary gland) duct opening or can be inflammed minor salivary gland opening. It might have caused due to trauma (as you have got broken or decayed tooth in that area)which might be poking your cheek constantly at that area.It can be fodyce spots(inflammed sebacious gland of cheeks). It might also be due to trauma and smoking and poor oral hygiene.Since its painless and not bleeding you should not be worried at this point of time.I suggest you should maintain proper oral hygiene by
1)brushing twice daily
2)use chlorhexidine mouthwash
3)do tongue scraping
4)drink lots and lots of water
5)have green leafy vegetables and fruits
You should get the broken teeth in that area restored as it might be causing constant irritation to that area.(since it is apperaing in that same area regularly)and do warm salt water gargle regularly(for proper healing).I suggest you to reduce smoking(I know its very very difficult but it should be reduced gradually not within a single day).So in my opinionsince you dont have pain or bleeding and pus,its not an infection as of now.But you shouldfollow the steps described by me earlier and meet a dentist get broken teeth filled and see the result.Besides all these stay happy and stressfree.Cool and tensionfree mind can be best treatment for any disease.Hope you are benefitted something from this reply. If you still have queries please be free to ask me as we are always ready to help you.Have a healthy day!!!!

Brief Answer:
It is harmless

Detailed Answer:
Hello. Thanks for replying back.
I have read through your query and accordingly I must and say that precancerous and cancer lesion can have some other symptoms as well. According to symptoms explained by you and pictures sent by you it is harmless and as a second opinion you can meet up an oral surgeon if you wish. I would say that you should reduce slowly and gradually your smoking habit (I know it’s hard to stop but trying something difficult is a nice challenge to your mind).
Be cool and HAPPY. Happiness is the best medicine for any disease.
Hope you are benefited something from this reply. If you have more queries please be free to ask. Have a healthy day!!!
