Question: Dear Dr. Grief, This may be silly but a metal shade just slammed me in the top of the head. I have a small headache but no other symptoms. Is there any reason for concern? I am always concerned about bumps to the head. Is the top of the head any more or less susceptible to injury? Thank you for your time.

Brief Answer: Hello Detailed Answer: Thanks for the query Top of the head is as susceptible as any other site of your head. Small headaches are common after a head injury and should subside on its own or with mild painkillers like paracetamol. Here are some of the red flags which you should be aware of 1. If the pain does not subside or increases even after 2 days then please approach a doctor for a CT brain 2. Watch out for blurring of vision and weakness of limbs 3. Vomiting is a sign of concern, it means that there is increased intracranial pressure possibly due to a bleed 4. Watch out for fever If you do not have any of these symptoms then there is no cause for concern I hope I was of help, if you have any further queries please get back to me I wish you good health and a speedy recovery Regards
