Suggest Treatment For Small Oval Rash On Neck

default
Posted on Mon, 11 Jan 2016
Question: Our 12 year old son has developed a small oval rash on his adam's apple area of his neck just a couple of days ago. It has gotten increasingly pink/red and just this morning has started to scab on the small bumps. It's about 1 inch wide and 1/2 inch in height. Just started out itchy, we just put some Benadryl on it. Any suggestions?

Did you receive the photo image?

Brief Answer:

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking on HealthcareMagic.

I have gone through the details but do not find the image attached. I will request you to kindly reattach it. In any case, taking Benadryl orally once or twice daily for a few days should help. Applying Benadryl will not help, rather I would insist on topical application of calamine lotion.

I will wait for you to reattach the image. I would be able to comment further thereafter.

Brief Answer:
Image still not attached.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for writing back. I waited for the last 20 mins but still find no reports updated. It could be that you are uploading the reports somewhere else. Use the link at the upper right of this page. If you are doing a XXXXXXX upload, sometimes the upload gets stuck, so check that. If still in problem, get in touch with customer service.

Hi Dr. XXXXXXX

I uploaded 1st on the link where it says to upload the image. It said it successfully uploaded. 2nd time, I uploaded using the link at the upper right of this page where it says "Upload New Reports". I am not sure what else to do. Seems easy, but apparently unsuccessful on 2 attempts. I have done once more - 3rd time, and hit the upload button. It never does give feedback on the "Upload New Reports" as to successful upload or not. If this 3rd time is successful, I give up. PS I am doing this from a website, not the XXXXXXX app.

Dr. Diptanshu XXXXXXX I am sending this attached photo from the downloaded XXXXXXX app. Can you receive it now - my 4th attempt for image download but 1st time from the XXXXXXX app?

Brief Answer:
Seems to be due to a viral infection. Could be herpes/chicken pox.

Detailed Answer:
I finally find the image. Probably the XXXXXXX upload worked. Sorry for getting stuck and not being able to respond earlier. I have gone through the attached image and it seems that it could be due to herpes or chicken pox. In such a case, I would need to ask specifically if it is painful (herpes rashes/vescicles are usually painful). In any case, you need to wait. Apply calamine lotion as mentioned and continue to give Benadryl. It will take a few more days and would gradually scab off. Since there is likelihood of spread from the fluid conatined in the vescicles, please maintain segregation.

You will have to be patient.

Let me know if I could help further.

Regards
