Suggest Treatment For Small Wound On The Scalp

default
Posted on Mon, 9 Jan 2017
Question: Hi Doctor. I just went for a professional, non-sexual, non-sensual message. After coming out i realized that I have this small wound on my scalp (picture attached).

I did not notice the hands of my masseuse for any cuts but wanted to check if this can cause any blood related HIV transmission.

Please let me know

Brief Answer:
no chance of transmission

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for writing to us. I can understand your concern.

Considering your history there is no chance of transmission. HIV is transmitted only through body fluid exchange. Considering your wound it seems not possible. No need to worry.

Hope I have answered your query, I will be happy to help further.

Thanks for the reply doctor.

Just wanted to understand how book related HIV transmission occurs.

Does the infected person need to drip blood on wounds or wound to wound contact can also be a cause of worry.

In my case I did not see any blood flow in my wound, you must have seen my picture.

Asking this to clear my head as I am suddenly feeling anxious reading so much about HIV.

Appreciate your response

Brief Answer:
yes there is no blood in your wound

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thanks for follow up.

When some person have active wound (means there is bleeding/pus discharge) or mucosa (deepest layer of skin) is exposed in wound and fluid (blood, semen or discharge from private parts) from HIV infected person comes in to contact with wound HIV may transmit.

Scalp has the thickest layer of skin in body. Your wound also does not seem liable for transmission. In addition there is no evidence that person who have given the massage has any active wound or HIV infection.

Considering all these no chance of HIV infection in this case.

Take care and relax.
