Brief Answer:
Looks like common cold

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXX. By what you quote, this looks like a common cold emerging due to the winter season. You can use Nasoclear saline nasal drops. My suggestions regarding this -

1. For nose block and stuffy nose, to you can use Nasoclear saline nasal drops 1 drop or spray in each nostril every 6th hourly or as frequently as the baby's nose gets blocked.

2. Calpol drops (100mg/ml) strength is Paracetamol drops. I suggest you use Paracetamol drops only if temperature is equal to or above 100F. Body feeling warm is quite common in this season. Please do not use paracetamol unless you check with a thermometer and quite sure of temperature grade. Unnecessary use of paracetamol affects the liver.

3. I can suggest you the dose and frequency of paracetamol as soon as you get back to me with the most recent weight of the baby.

4. None of the so called antiallergics or anti cold medicines should be given at this age. They are not licensed to be used at this age.

Hi doctor, the last we checked the baby weighed around 3.5 kgs. I think he may have lost a bit of weight from what I see.

Brief Answer:
Paracetamol dose

Detailed Answer:
Hi....Calpol comes in 3 strengths... Drops/ syrup and double strength syrup.

I suggest you use Calpol drops (100mg/ml) at 0.45 ml every 4-6th hourly, only if temperature is more than 100F or...
Calpol suspension (120mg/5ml) at 2ml as suggested above.
