Question : Granddaughter Dx. with Emotional Behavioral Syndrome. XXXXXXX is now 17 a Jr. in High School. Very bright and sweet girl. However, doesn't have good social skills. Does go to a class a week in school but her mother
doesn't think it is doing much for her. Now she is going to be tested for autistic syndrome next month She is a great artist only draws animals and characters of that sort also big on Pokémon. Often the teachers told her mother she wasn't sociable and wanted to know if she was depressed--- guess that tell you how many of them bother to read reports on her every year...public school get extra money for her. My daughte claims she asked if there couldn't be something else going on was told no. Is there a chance for her to develop into an independent adult. She wants to go to college for graphic art to be an animator.

Brief Answer:
Evaluation is essential

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking on HealthcareMagic.

I have gone carefully through your query and understand your concerns. Your granddaughter needs to be evaluated by a psychologist or psychiatrist who could administer screening tests and confirmatory tests. You yourself can administer tests like:
http://www.pediatricbipolar.pitt.edu/content.asp?id=2333
https://www.autismresearchcentre.com/arc_tests

Based on the findings the psychologist can administer cognitive behavioral therapy and behavior modification therapy which should gradually bring improvement in the situation.

Unfortunately many pediatricians do not take things seriously. However, this is important and proper interventions could ensure that she can independently develop and thrive as an adult. Early the detection and intervention, better the outcome.

Feel free to write back.
