Suggest Treatment For Soft Tissue Injury

Question: I was in a motorcycle accident 2 years ago that resulted in severe pain in my right shoulder. MRI showed no tears but pain persisted. (Ortho doc said rotator cuff tears are notorious for not showing on MRI) PT did not help, actually seemed to make it worse. Finally tried shots in the shoulder and after the first 3 was able to continue with only mild discomfort occasionally. Last shot was XXXXXXX 2013. Last week I was walking down the steps and tripped, falling on outstretched arms. Now both shoulders hurt, I think the right one is just the old injury, but when I try to reach out for something I feel a popping sensation and instant pain in the upper front of my arm. The left shoulder is worse. Can barely move my arm without pain and I have the popping sensation in this one too only much more painful. The pain in this one seems to be higher, actually in the shoulder with pain mostly on the outside and back of the arm. It wakes me up several times in the night. Sleeping is almost impossible between the two. To prop up one so it doesn't hurt causes pain in the other! Can't reach up or behind. The pain is not constant, as long as I don't move it! Lol I do have fibromyalgia, but this doesn't feel like a flare. Especially given the fact that I fell when it started. I just don't know if that could be contributing to the severity of the symptoms. I only takes meds if I have a really bad flare - usually lyrica - but nothing for the last 2 years. It can usually be controlled by massage and soaking in the hot tub.

Brief Answer:
Seems to be soft tissue injury.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for your query.

From description it seems to be soft tissue injury to both shoulders.
You need an x-ray to rule out any bony injury.
I suggest you to consult an orthopaedician nearby for a detailed examination. You may get the X-ray of the area affected under his/her guidance. You can take anti-inflammatory drug like motrin to reduce pain and inflammation. Avoid lifting weight and rest well.

I do hope that you have found something helpful and I will be glad to answer any further query.

Take care
