Suggest Treatment For Sore Neck And Stress

default
Posted on Mon, 22 Dec 2014
Question: What can I do for a sore neck. I fell yesterday and skinned my knee and today my neck is very sore. I had a fight with a relative yesterday and was under a lot of stress. It probably is from the stress - I used Biofreeze this morning around 10 am - I want to use a moist heat heating pad but I don't know how long to wait to use the heating pad. Is heat better than ice for the neck and do you think the neck problem is from the stress?

Brief Answer:
the heat pad would help

Detailed Answer:
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

Tension and stress can be associated with pain in the neck and shoulders in some persons.
It is definitely possible that it is contributing to your pain.

If you turned or twisted your neck in any abnormal position during your fall, it would also play a part in the pain that you are experiencing.

You can use the heating pad, it would help to relax the muscles in the neck.

In addition the use of anti inflammatory pain medication may also be helpful. This includes meds such as aspirin or ibuprofen or naproxen.

I hope this helps, feel free to ask any other questions

Brief Answer:
no scheduled time frame

Detailed Answer:
HI

There is no particular time frame.

The heat pad can be applied for 10 to 20 minutes, 2 to 4 times daily if needed.

You can use it at this point and a few hours later if needed
