Suggest Treatment For Sore Spot On Head And Shooting Pain From Neck To Shoulder Due To A Fall
Question: About two nights ago I slipped and hit my head on the tile of my bath tub. My boyfriend caught me mid fall and so I only slightly hit the back of my head. The back of my head has a sore spot but no bump. I haven't had any headaches but I have a shooting pain in my neck going down into my shoulder. Do you think I should go to the ER and get my head checked out?

I am so sorry about this fall and happy to know your boyfriend helped reduce the impact of this fall. Having no headaches means that there is probably nothing wrong like a bleed that took place in the head.
The pains you have reported as most likely related to the fall and limited to the soft tissue around the head and neck regions. I would recommend that you take pain medications like Ibuprofen and Tylenol as recommended by your pharmacist to address this.
For now, there is no real need for an ER. Should these symptoms not respond to routine pain medications or get worse or you develop symptoms like blur vision, severe headaches, etc that may suggest a brain trauma, only then would Ii recommend that you go to the ER for this.
