Suggest Treatment For Sore Throat And Intermittent Pain In The Armpits

Posted on Tue, 4 Apr 2017
Question: I am really struggling here for some answers and can't tie everything together. Need some help bad as my Dr's keep saying anxiety/stress but at this point I feel that is impossible. My main symptoms are extreme fatigue, red, dry eyes that hurt, my whole mouth hurts, intermittent pain under arm pits, ear pain, sore throat for over 4 months, pain in both sides ribs upper quadrant and loss of appetite.

I am just desperately asking for someone to look at this whole picture and tell me what I am dealing with. Main symptoms are fatigue, loss of appetite, eyes red and burning like crazy, sore throat, mouth and ear pain, pain in face (cheeks), and the pain in my sides primarily right. Thank you

Brief Answer:
Keep medical help if you can't control the situation

Detailed Answer:
Hello and thank you for asking in HCM.

I have gone very carefully through your concern and i am so sorry for your actual situation.

According to your medical history i firstly want to say that i fully agree with the other doctors that liver hemangiomas fortunately are not cancer.

Regarding to your signs and symptoms before saying stress or anxiety i would recommend you to do some tests to exclude some situations that might cause these complaints :

Hemogram
Ferritinemia
CRP
Chest X Ray
Specific IgE
Prick tests
Pneumoalergens

Sometimes it might be anaemia the cause of extreme fatigue.
If you usually have sore throat it may be related with alergic condition.

If all of the above results come negative we can think for anxiety or stress. If you are not able to control the situation please keep the medical help.

Discuss with your doctor for your concern and for sure h/she will advise you further.

If the results come positive than the relevant specialists (hematologist for anaemia or alergologist for alergic situation ) will prescribe you the proper treatment.

Meanwhile you should do a healthy lifestyle. No smoking, good sleep, no alcohol, long walking for relaxing.

Best wishes

Dr. Jolanda thanks for your quick follow up. That is my biggest concern that I eat a great diet, vegetables and fruits, juice frequently, 0 sweets or sugars, never drank alcohol, never smoked, try and walk 2 miles every morning and work out every evening as much as I can now. Before January I had no problem working out 2x every day. Would anemia not of shown in my blood work? I've had pretty extensive blood work done with liver ezymes, tumor markers, urine samples, etc...not sure if you looked through my recent blood workups as I already had CRP also? Also had Hemogram which is basically a CBC with differential correct? Chest x ray was negative. Had transferrin and serotonin done also. Is the ANYTHING that ties all these symptoms in together that I could be missing? Sarcoidosis? Fibromyalgia (as I also have tingling in my left shoulder all the time and left side of face? Even possibly rheumatoid arthritis? Chronic Sinusitis? Just all this is really ruining my life right now and not having any answers is the main problem.

Brief Answer:
It might be fibromyalgia but better consult a rheumatologist

Detailed Answer:
Hi again

I read carefully the lab tests. They are almost all in normal values except lipids but this is not related to the history.

No it is not Sarcoidosis nor Rheumatoid Arthritis as well.

It might be fibromyalgia but it would be better for you to be evaluate from a rheumatologist for exact diagnosis.

In fibromyalgia usually the lab tests are normal and its treatment is only simptomatic given the fact that it is not a real disease but more a condition with no exact etiologic factor.

You don't have any anaemia too according to the above results.

So talk with your doctor for rheumatologist consultation who will advice you for follow-up of the situation and probably will prescribe you some medications.

Regards and feel free for asking me again.

Just one last question. So is it possible that being given news of a mass and put through the medical ringer thinking I had stage 4 cancer and even to the point of casting out my 401ks, cause any or all of these symptoms. The symptoms are real like throat pain all the time, red dry eyes, ear pain, fatigue. And the original pain in my right flank area. Could it be that for instance my sinus problems I've always had just flare up over this stress and anxiety and cause these real symptoms? I just get tired of hearing anxiety stress as an answer but is that possible that a life event like getting told news like that and thinking you have a few months to live can have such as lasting for 3 months and negative impact on your overall health even after being told by many Dr's you are ok??

Brief Answer:
You are the best doctor for yourself

Detailed Answer:
Hi again

Yes all of your symptoms may be caused by anxiety.
Chronic sinusitis may cause some not all of your concern (not chronic fatigue).

In conclusion stress is a very serious and difficult problem.

You are the best doctor of yourself.

Keep calm and take care
