Question : Hi... I am 30 years old. My throat is sore. And I can see my tonsils... As a result I cannot talk. I have been advised to eat eyrocin 500. How many days should I eat this for?

Thank you for your query.

1. If you have been examined by a doctor and tonsillitis has been confirmed, you will need to take this tablet for 5 to 7 days. It will only work against susceptible bacteria. Viral infections will run their course. Use a medicated oral rinse such as Betadine and an anti-inflammatory such as Disperzyme. Diet should be soft and bland.

2. Usually it takes 24 to 48 hours for an antibiotic to work. If the symptoms persist or worsen, get a re-examination, a throat swab and change in antibiotic.
