Suggest Treatment For Sore Throat And Swollen Tonsils

Question : my 16 yr old granddaughter has what we believe to be strep throat. she was at dance camp and started with a sore throat on Friday 6/3/16. she was given AMOXICILLIN 500 MG 3 X DAILY FOR 7 DAYS. She has returned to my home on monday 6/6/16 and is not better. she has swollen tonsils and pus all around the back of the throat. she is taking ibprofen every 4 hrs but is still in severe pain. she has gargled with warm salt water but this has not helped. should we go to the ER or is there something i can do for her here at home? Thanks for the help.... XXXX

I am sorry for the health situation your grand-daughter is in.

lf amoxicillin is not working then a more potent antibiotics should be used , to me she needs injection treatment.
However, first need to run throat swab culture to determine the susceptible antibiotics.

Go to ER to get immediate help.
