Sore throat lasting this long could be tonsillitis, the sore throat in tonsillitis usually does not come down without taking antibiotics. Here is how you should go about it

1. I recommend you to do betadine gargles with betadine granules three times day, this will reduce the inflammation
2. Tab Levocetrizine at night will give good symptomatic relief
3. Tab Amoxacillin with Clavulunate twice daily for 5 days is what I prescribe for tonisillitis
4. Please meet an ENT surgeon for a local examination. It is important because its almost been a month since you have had this. Please dont self medicate any further

From the history you have given me it looks like you have had a bad posterior pharynx infection. I recommend that you
1.gargle with betadine granules three times daily.
2. Make sure you avoid cold food and beverages till you are better.

No other treatment is required, it will recover soon enough on its own. If it doesnt then please meet an ENT surgeon for a local examination. A close differential is a vocal cord polyp.
