Question : I have been sick for two weeks now sore throat coughing constantly weak wheezing I can't eat anything without throwing up and I can't drink either and everyone in the house is sick. I can't get to my doc till after Christmas Any suggestions on over the counter meds I got to be careful with what I take cause I am a recovering addict,,

Brief Answer:
Please take any over the counter cough syrup containing Bromhexine

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXXXX welcome to HCM,

Please take any over the counter cough syrup containing Bromhexine and guaiphenesin.
Also take Tylenol if you feel feverish (after some food).
Take Omeprazole 20mg twice a day before food. If extremely nauseated, you may take Ondansetron mouth dissolving tablet 4mg twice daily before food.

Take steam inhalation.
These are all safe measures, which I can suggest till you meet your doctor.
But if wheezing is severe, please don't hesitate to go to the ER.
