Posted on Mon, 17 Jul 2017
Question: Does a sore throat, runny nose, and cough sound like a cold to you. I thought it was my allergies. I'm not running a fever. I don't have much of an appetite. I feel drained, no energy.

Brief Answer:
Focus of infection should be looked for

Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome

I appreciate your concern

Yes, based on your description, it does appear to be a cold. However, both the throat and chest need to be examined to rule out a focus of infection that could be bacterial. Antibiotics would be required for that purpose.

In the meantime, saline gargles, antihistamines and Tylenol can be taken for symptomatic relief.
