Question : Hi, I have a sore red throat at the sides, not my tonsils or the back of my throat for 2 and a half days but no other symptoms at all. No fever, no sign of a cold but I am a bit anxious at the moment, could this be causing it, thanks XXXXX

I am Dr Rakesh Sharma answering your query.
I can understand your concern.
It may be local mild infection or may possibly be some mechanical or heat injury whlile eating some thing , which you could not notice at that time.
Antiseptic gargle and tablet ibuprofen should help you.
Avoid eating hot and hard items for time being.
Keep an eye on progess of it. If it does not show improvement in 24 to 48 hours an antibiotic needs to be added.

Thank you Dr XXXXXXX that would explain it. The Chemist thought it was odd to have a sore throat for a couple of days with no other symptoms, but I will keep an eye on it, regardsXXXXX
