Suggest Treatment For Soreness In Left Upper Thigh

default
Posted on Wed, 6 Jan 2016
Question: My left upper thigh is extremely sore. it is the muscle that comes from the left hip across the top of the thigh to the knee. It burns and throbs without relief. I spent a week helping my son fix up his new house. I spend all week standing on a concrete floor and going up and down a ladder. These are activities I am used to. I am applying ice and trying to stay off of it as much as possible. What can I do to relieve the pain. I am on blood thinners and cannot take aspirin.

Brief Answer:
Most probably hematoma or sprain.

Detailed Answer:
Hi.
Thanks for your query.
To recapitulate salient points: Female/66 - on blood thinners - spent a week helping son fix up his new house - up and down the ladder - feels used to these activities - got left upper thigh extremely sore - sartorius - burns and throbs without relief - tried ice and stay off...

As per the history this looks to be most probably sprained muscle or a small hematoma that has formed somewhere underneath.
I would advise you the following:
Consult your Physician to know that you are on blood thinner and has now got this problem.
Ultrasonography and color doppler of the affected area.
Test of blood related to coagulation profile.
May have to stop the blood thinners (under the direct supervision of your treating Doctor).
Strict rest.

I hope this answer helps you to get an early diagnosis and proper treatment.
Please feel free to ask further relevant queries if you feel that there is a gap of communication.
