Suggest Treatment For Soreness On The Ribs While Suffering From Excessive Coughing

Question: Hi. two weeks ago I suffered a sinus infection that I coughed and sneezed my way into soreness in my ribs and back for a day or so. After a few days I noticed the area around the 6,7 Costal Cartlidge area of ribs on the right side just right of the sternum was sore. The the coastal area was sore to the touch and the pain radiated a few inches below the ribs also. There was a slight swelling below this area. I have uploaded a photo of the area of concern. Previously I had a back injury to my spinal erectors area on the right side aswell. I have had costochondritis of the sternum area before. I have been under a lot of stress lately and have had some acid reflux.
Brief Answer:
Lump due to Right Costo-Chondral Fracture
Detailed Answer:
Hi,Dear,
Thanks for the query to HCM.
I studied your query in full details and understood your health concerns.
In my opinion the lump you had is due to the un-displaced Costo-Chondral fracture at the 6,7 Costal cartilage. It is due to the severe sneezing and coughing trauma.
I would advise-as follows-
a- to consult with ER Thoracic- Surgeon and have his opinion on the Xry of the chest.
b-Continue painkillers
c- Ice compresses
d-Rib Belt to reduce the pain x 4 to 6 wks
Hope this would help you to plan treatment with doctor.
Wishing you fast recovery.
Well-come for any further query in this regard.
Have a Good day...!!
With Regards
