Hi back dear XXXXXXX
Sorry for the late reply due to my XXXXXXX clinical overload.
Thank you for providing the requested photos. I have gone through them and noted the sores and ulcers on your stomach.
The first impression is that yes , you might had an allergy reaction due to an insect bite. In such cases, it will take a few days to resolve until several weeks.
However, you are saying that have been going like this for 2years now. At this point, my thoughts are as follows :
- you might be gone through a bacterial coinfection of the sores due to scratching. It is easy for diabetics to get skin infection, which are difficult to resolve.
- another thing that goes into my mind is that you keep scratching. This does not let the skin get healed, finishing in open sores /ulcers. Furthermore, you are a diabetic which will make it difficult the skin sores to heal. On theother hand, you have gone through a spinal surgery that might also have an effect on unhealing sores.
- you said you had a skin biopsy that found nothing (correct me if I am wrong ); if it is possible can send a copy of biopsy report to me.
At this point, I can give the following advice :
1. Keep a good control of your blood sugar levels
2. We will try to get the sores healed.
If it's itchy, try not to scratch.
Instead, apply antihistaminic or anti itching medications locally.
If bacterial infection is present, apply local antibiotic wipes. Oral antibiotics should be taken too.
I have used applying honey on the wounds of my diabetic patients with great results. You can try it too.
Aloe vera juice applied locally can also help in healing process.
You can discuss my advice with your dermatologist or physician and hope that will help you.
All the best!
