Suggest Treatment For Spastic Dysfunction Of The Anus

Question: My problem is my external anal sphincter not able to open so I am keeping myself in enough laxatives mohave watery but unfortunately explosive movements. This problem has existed and been worsening for ten years. I was able to defecate by applying pressure to perineum which seemed to put pressure on the sphincter enough to force things through. Recent pelvic surgery has caused this to become so bad that only a 1/4 wide soft stream gets through. So I am housebound and have no idea what can help this situation.

Brief Answer:
Possible hypertonic spasm of sphincter?

Detailed Answer:
Hello, Madam.

I can certainly understand your concern.

I have worked through your query in detail.

You possibly seem to have hypertonic spasm of external anal sphincter.

I advise you to go for manometric pressure assessment to give way to further therapeutic ideas.

In my view surgical procedure (lateral sphincterotomy) coupled with a prior trial of Botox injections can be really helpful.

The above procedures should be of curative potential on your case.

Please check with your Gastrointestinal surgeon with regards to above and update me with his/her opinion.

Meanwhile continue with the use of Laxatives.

Post your further queries if any.
Thank you.
