Suggest Treatment For Stabbing Pain Under The Lower Edge Of The Rib Cage

default
Posted on Mon, 9 Jan 2017
Question: I developed a side-stitch about three weeks ago under my left ribs, only it has not gone away. It is not disabling, or painful. It feels like a small marble under my rib. It is a little tender, and flairs to mild pain at times, such as in the morning after sleeping on my side. Anything to be concerned about?

Brief Answer:
May need Ultrasound of the swelling

Detailed Answer:
Hi! Welcome to health care magic! Thanks for sharing your concerns with us. We will try to help you in best way possible.

First of all, it is sad to know what you had been experiencing lately. Based on the history you have shared, it seems something benign or pulled muscle tendon or cartilage piece but needs be evaluated atleast once by an Xray and ultrasound of the affected side.

If swelling or piece is solid mass like beneath the skin, it may needs to be biopsies to confirm the nature of swelling. Meanwhile OTC analgesics like acetaminophen can be used for pain relief.

Meanwhile continue with the daily life activities as you have mentioned already. Wishing you a speedy recovery. If you have any more questions, feel free to ask. Regards.
