Suggest Treatment For Stasis Dermatitis

default
Posted on Wed, 19 Oct 2016
Question: I have been diagnosed by a dermatologist with Stasis Dermatitis. There is red, dry, itchy, tender skin on both lower ankles and shins. No cracked skin or open sores. Suggestions from multiple physicians include: using moisturizing lotion, Triamcinolone Acetonide Cream, elevating the legs, compression stockings, none of which bring relief.

Brief Answer:
Photograph required

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for the query.
Stasis dermatitis is due to stagnation of blood and the cause behind is varicose veins.
I would like to know whether you have dilated veins on your legs.
If possible upload a photograph of the involved area.
This will help me in giving a closer diagnosis and better way of management.
Waiting for your response.
Thank you.

Brief Answer:
varicose veins

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for the follow up and photograph.
I can see lot of dilated veins on your feet.
These suggest varicose veins.
Please meet a surgeon.
These veins are the cause for stasis dermatitis.
The only permanent treatment for this is surgery.
Its a small surgery.
Please meet a surgeon and discuss and let me know if you have any other doubts.
Thank you.
