Suggest Treatment For Stiff And Painful Legs When Diagnosed With Peripheral Neuropathy

default
Posted on Tue, 9 May 2017
Question: I am diagnosed with peripheral neuropathy. I have stiff and achey legs, awkward gait; I tire easily after 5 or 10
minutes when walking. I feel fine when lying down. No problem when drivingI. I have been given Gabapentin which did no good at all. I take Vitamin B daily. I wonder about taking one of the advertised Vitamin B products. Can you suggest a medication? Dietary suggestions? Thank you very much

Brief Answer:
Supportive care

Detailed Answer:
Thank you for asking
I read your question and i understand your concern. Age related neuropathies and degeneration can be bothersome and seriously hamper daily activities like walking , arthralgias, gait disorders, easy fatigability etc. Supportive care is all one can hope for. Adequate pain killers like gabapentin, pregabalin, valproate, lamotrigine etc can be considered for adequate neuropathic pain control. Diets rich in B 12 supplements like meat , fish, sardines, mackerel, liver, eggs, proteins of any source and poultry etc can be taken adequately for supportive care. Any over the counter B complex multivitamin you can opt for, almost all are the same. Try to stay active, mobilised, don't lose your range of mobility, do yoga, physiotherapy exercises, massage therapies and don't overstress or burden your self, do what you are comfortable doing.

I hope it helps. Take good care of yourself and dont forget to close the discussion please.
