Suggest Treatment For Stitches Scars On Forehead
Question: Hi Doctor,
I have got some scars of stitches on my forehead. Heard of a cream by Mederma.
Just wanted to know is that worth applying?
Also there are a lot of variant of that available in market, which one to use if it really works.

Its an old scar. Got during my childhood. (when I was around 10 years)

The cream that you inquire about won't do much for an Old depressed Scar such as this. It is not worth trying.
This cream won't lift it up Or fill the defect Or make the the scar less noticeable in any way.
A scar revision procedure would certainly help. Are you willing to undergo a scar revision?
Dermaroller/ Microneedling is another option if you are not willing to undergo a scar revision.
The aim of this procedure is to stimulate synthesis of new collagen within the scar tissue and remodel existing collagen thus lifting it up and thereby making it less noticeable.
Sessions would be required and it would improve the scar cosmetically.
You may talk to a dermatologist in your vicinity for more details about this procedure.
Along with that you may use topical tretinoin cream, once daily at night. Tretinoin has collagen re-modelling properties and would help.
