default
Posted on Mon, 27 Feb 2017
Question: I am 72 years old, I have been diagnosis with Gastroparesis for 2 years. I do not have Diabetes nor am I sedentary. Does it ever developed into Colitis or Chrohn's Disease? I have been receiving Botox injections every 6 months. This last one in December did not work. I am too old for the implant I'm told. What else is out there? I have daily stomach cramps and diarrhea. I can't eat real food, just protein drinks.

Hi and thank you for asking on HCM!
I would like to know more about your symptoms like:
- do you have blood in stools or not?
- how many time you have been with diarrhea
- did you malabsorbtion tests ?

You have been diagnosed with gastroparesis, it means that you have done motility test of GI tract.
with regards to crown and colitis it is associated with your symptoms but usually blood in stool.is present.
To my opinion you need to check with malabsorbtion feel tests and level of digestive enzymes to better determine the cause of your symptoms.
Hope it was helpful to you.
I am waiting your answers.

I have diarrhea every time I eat solid food. Thus I only drink a protein drink. I do not have blood in my stools. I did all the malabsorption tests. That is how the Gastro Dr. determined I had Gastroparesis.
Last night I discovered a golf ball size, rock hard lump at the base of my esophagus where it empties into my stomach. This is new. I can't get into see my Gastro dr. until March 22nd. Can't get in to see my primary care physician until 2/6/17. Meantime I am concerned!!

Detailed Answer:
Hi back,
I am sorry for the situation you are in.
You are reporting that you have feel a lump between esophagus and stomach.
This finding may be related with :
- stomach issues/hiatal hernia
- abdominal hernia
- Lipoma of the skin (rarely)
to my opinion you need to do upper endoscopy and ct scan to better determine it.
