Question: Overnight I developed stomach cramps, vomit, cold hands and feet, chills and have hard time sleeping. It just came over me and I have a fever of about 101.5 and no rashes, no sore throat, no cough, joint pain in arms and leg though. My hands and feet feel numb and I cannot get comfortable lying down in any position. Healthy western female, 37 years old.

Needs few tests to be done

Detailed Answer:
Hi, thanks for using Healthcaremagic.

I went through your query and understood your concerns.

Your symptoms are suggestive more of viral fever . For my patients with similar complaints first I would get complete details on history and examination. Depending on examination findings I get investigations done like CBC, Urine routine, WIDAL test and blood smear for malaria.

Most of the viral fever are self limiting , only symptomatic treatment is sufficient. I advice them with antipyretic medication and tepid sponging if fever raises. Naintain your hydration. take ORS and enough liquid in your diet. Avoid spicy food. Acid reducing drugs like pantoprazole helps to reduce gastric secretion and stomach discomfort.Usually in 5-7 days symptoms reduce. In case of worsening of symptoms we have to look for other bacterial infection.

Hope I answered your query. Feel free to ask further related query.

Wish you a good health.

Regards
