Question: I have had stomach issues for almost two months. I was overseas 8 weeks ago, threw up from something I ate or drank, and then took
Cipro for 5 days. When I got back, about a week after I felt stomach light pains/burning sensations up and down my abs, both sides, down below my naval down to my pelvis, around my naval and up to under my ribs, around my obliques and sometimes my lower back. It comes and goes randomly, I can feel it more it seams after I eat and lay down flat. Additionally background that may be important is for the few months prior to leaving the country, when I worked out, and lifted heavy weight, I could sometimes feel a light pressure/burn around my naval. I'm not sure if either incident is related, but I've had these current symptoms since I got back from my trip, or about 6-7 weeks and on a daily basis. My stool is once/day, seems fine. A few weeks ago, I self - prescribed
Nexium, Pro-biotics and Fiber pills, and multi-
vitamins which I take daily. My diet has a little more greens, grains and water. Nothing went away so a week ago, I went to a walk-in clinic, my vitals were fine, they took an x-ray and the PA said it may have some large gas pockets. She prescribed
Miralax and
Gas-X on top of what I'm doing. So I'm talking those plus the Nexium, Pro-biotics and Fiber pills once daily now, and although the burning/pain symptoms have seemed to subside a little in frequency and level, they are still there and still seem to come on stronger when I eat. I'm not sure what to do. Should I go see my PCP and get more testing done? I worry that I may have had a serious condition, but the PA said since the bloaty/light pain feeling is spread out from pelvic to ribs is that it sounds less like something serious and more like a digestion issue. I've never had these conditions before. I'm a very active person and it's disconcerting because I have no idea what it could be. Please advise - Matt
