Question : My brother has had kidney stones in the past. He is experiencing stomach pains in between meals, along with gas. I told him he might have an ulcer as anxiety runs in our family, our mother had a bleeding ulcer in her mid fifies. I also told him he should try some Mylanta. He will see his Dr. next week but in the meantime can the Mylanta be helpful or harmful. Thank you

Hello,

the symptoms you've described are usually caused by either peptic ulcer or gallbladder problems (biliary colic, cholecystitis).
Mylanta won't do any harm in either case.
I would suggest reducing fat intake, because it increases the load on the stomach and causes more bile to be excreted (thus affecting a potentially malfunctioning gallbladder). I would also advise him to eat in moderation and prefer small and frequent meals instead of a single large meal.
