Question : My grandson from USA visit ti XXXXXXX (8 years old) developed stomach pain after a trip to a holiday place. Vising a doctor prescribed olfax100 and cyclopam saying he might be developing infection in stomach. pain has come down after givinh cyclopam, but not vanished in total(after 48 hrs). i am yet to start oflax 100. He is cheerful and active. eats bland diet now.pl. advise

I understand your concern about your grandson having a stomach infection.

Stomach infections are common in children and his doctor has correctly prescribed antibiotics for the same.

Cyclopam is an anti colic which relieves the pain but does not cure the infection. Antibiotics are needed to combat the infection effectively.

I suggest you complete the antibiotic course prescribed and continue with the bland and fluid diet.
