Often, multiple months are necessary for healing to occur depending on the amount of damage. You should feel be feeling some relief with acid reduction with acid reflux medication by now. An endoscopy procedure can evaluate your esphopagus and healing of ulcerated areas. Your doctor may suggest this procedure.

Home remedies including your daily habits must include avoiding irritants such as chocolate, nicotine, caffeine and foods that are greasy, spicy and fatty.
Avoid high acid content liquids such as sodas and alcohol. You must reduce acid intake and give your body a chance to balance the acid in your digestive system.

Starting your day with fresh lemon juice in water 20 minutes before eating may provide balance to your stomach acid. Do not overdue with high acid content fruits. This can be harsh on your tooth enamel.

Rinse your mouth with water. Wait 30 minutes before brushing after exposure to lessen change of damage to delicate enamel at gum area. Chewing gum with xylitol or having cheese at the end of your meal can help achieve balance and reduce acid content.
Make sure that you are not suffering from dry mouth. Saliva flow helps protect your teeth and the lining of your esophagus. Stay well hydrated and make sure that you have balanced vitamins with no deficiencies or excess.
A probiotic supplement may help your digestive system. In particular, saccharomyces boulardii, may optimize health in the digestive tract. The herb slippery elm has been reported to be beneficial in helping maintain digestive tract balance.
Try to tract your triggers and determine what benefits or disturbs your own system the most. Discuss all results with your doctor. Please make sure to inform your doctor of all dietary changes made and supplements being taken. Your full medical history needs to be considered with treatment. Make sure that you are up to date on your routine dental exam to determine if there are any contributing oral conditions that need treatment. Practice good daily oral hygiene. There are stress induced oral ulcerations. Have your dentist evaluate further if reducing your acid exposure does not relieve this condition. Soothing warm salt water rinses and gels containing benzocaine may offer temporary relief while healing occurs.

I hope these suggestions will help you to achieve balance. I am available to assist you further. Please provide any additional details that would be helpful.

Brief Answer:
PH study, impedance test, endoscopy

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
You need to determine if high acid content is causing your symptoms since you have tried medication and not feeling relief. Your doctor can do a ph study and an impedance test. You need to know why the medication is not working. Not all patients will find the medication effective. Three months is an adequate trial time. Ask your doctor to prescribe an additional medication to help coat the esophagus and stomach if you find the acid content is still high and try acid inhibiting medication again.
Blood tests can indicate if you have blood loss. Anemia can be a sign of a bleeding ulcer. Removing the irritant, medication and good dietary habits can often allow healing of these ulcers. if your ulcer is severe, surgery may be indicated to remove damaged tissue.
Other causes can include a heart condition, a tumor or the esophagus having a muscle disorder. Bacterial studies should be done to rule out an imbalance or persistent infection. This is typically done with the endoscopy procedure.
Follow my earlier dietary suggestions. Drink plenty of water. Try to stay slightly elevated while sleeping. Working with a digestive specialist to help make a diagnosis and determine proper diet should be considered since you have not noticed improvement with your current efforts.
Thank you again for your inquiry.
