Brief Answer:
Should be evaluated further, meanwhile take symptomatic treatment.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Welcome to health care magic,

Stomach upset, feeling heaviness in upper abdomen with heavy feeling is likely related to acute gastritis or gastroenteritis or irritable bowel and they should be ruled out first as you are having these symptoms since last 1 week.

So,you will need to undergo routine blood investigations and H.pylori, liver function tests, abdominal ultrasound to detect the underlying cause.

Upper gastrointestinal endoscopy should be done if above reports come inconclusive.

At present, I would suggest you to try some symptomatic over the counter medications with STRICT dietary precautions to get some relief.

1) Take over the counter antacids tablets like Tab.Pantoprazole 40mg with Tab.Gas-X twice daily to get relief from the symptoms of heavy feeling which is likely due to gas trouble or bloating.

2) Take syrup Digene 2 TSF three times a day, will also be helpful.

3) Continue to avoid hot, oily and spicy foods and prefer HOME food. Take soft diet only for initial few days.

4) Avoid eating full stomach one at a time rather, take small meals frequently.

5) Avoid complex carbohydrates (like beans, potato and carbonated beverages and milk based products) which are hard to digest and causes more gas formation.

6) Drink plenty of water and fruit juices.

7) Digestive enzymes (like Unienzyme once daily which is available over the counter) will also be helpful in the digestion of carbohydrates and minimize the gas production.

8) Avoid talking which eating, as doing so may also cause further gas formation inside stomach.

With above symptomatic treatment and dietary precautions, you would feel some improvement within 1 or 2 days but it would be advisable to see physician or gastro-physician for further evaluation if symptoms persist longer.

Hope this detailed explanation will be helpful.

Brief Answer:
Take tab. gas-x

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for asking again,

You can continue with antacids, probiotics and simple foods but you will need to take Tab.Gas-x (Simethicone) to get relief from gas trouble, discomfort or fullness.

Also, avoid talking while eating because during talking, air goes into stomach and gets trapped inside.

Avoid complex carbohydrates which are gas forming as suggested earlier.

If possible, go for slow walking for half an hour after every meal.

If still symptoms persists, then it is better to see a physician for further evaluation.

Hope this helps.
