Question : my son's result of a test for gall bladder saw a stone but also a in segment 6 in a peripheral sub capsular location adjacent to a hepatic vein there is a rounded, mainly echogenic mass with a relatively hypo echoic centre measuring 14 mm maximum diameter likely to represent a incidental haemangioma ….reading from the report
oh i don't want this on the public forum

                                    Brief Answer:
MRI and than laparoscopic removal of gallbladder...
Detailed Answer:
Hi and thank you for asking on HCM!
You are reporting that your son has gallbladder stone and an incidental finding compatible with liver hemangioma.
If he was my patient I would recommend to do Abdominal MRI /ct scan to better evaluate biliary tract and hemangioma before consulting with surgeon..
After that you should consult abdominal surgeon for laparoscopic removal of gallbladder.
Small liver hemangioma ( less than 5 cm) as in your case doesn't need treatment.

Wish him fats recovery!

can you tell me why CT scan if they already suggest a hemangioma? and how does a person develop one? should we be worried?
what does a relatively hypo echoic centre mean? and also says mainly rounded ?

Detailed Answer:
Hi back,
The fact that the mass is mainly rounded is suggestive for bening liver mass like hemangioma
Usually small hemangiomas are hyperechoic on ultrasound but hypoechoic centre dosent exlude hemangioma.
I reccomend to do MRI or ct scan dor two reasons:
1.To better evaluate biliary tract before doing laparoscopy removal of gallbadder.
2.Usually liver hemangimas less than 2 cm on ultrasound should be confirmed with MRI or CT scan
Hemangioma is a bening tumor of the liver and there is nothing to be worried.
Wish you fast recovery !
