Brief Answer:
If associated complains are present, a differential should be done.

Detailed Answer:

Hello!

Thank you for asking on HCM!

Regarding your concern, I would like to explain that, as far as this strange feeling is not associated with additional disturbing complains (chest or abdominal pain, dyspnea, dizziness, abrupt BP fluctuations, abdominal distension, etc.) you should not worry too much.

This rumbling sound may be created by air transition through digestive system (with radiating sounds to the chest, or may be originated from the rumbling air through respiratory airways (if excessive secretions may partially impede its transition).

Another reason of strange sounds from the chest may be anomalous or increased blood flow through cardio-vascular structures (in the presence of any hyperkinetic blood circulation status, or when several structural disorders may impede normal blood circulation, such as cardiac valve stenosis, or blood vessel narrowing, or abnormal cardiac chambers shunts, etc).

In such latter case, serious associated clinical signs and symptoms are present, or a previous history for cardiac disorders may have been identified.

If you haven’t a previous medical history for heart disease, or other important medical issues, and are actually free of any other complains (I mentioned above), then nothing serious may result form such a clinical condition.

Otherwise, if you have other symptoms, and the complains keep getting worse, then I recommend you to consult the ER doctor to the nearest ER service, or your attending physician without delay (in order to exclude any possible cardio-vascular disorders I mentioned above).

Hope to have been helpful to you!

Feel free to ask me whenever you need! Greetings! Dr. Iliri
