Question: I have had daily leg soreness, fatigue, and feelings of flu like symptoms every day for almost three months. I have experienced some life changing things at the same time. I have a history of depression, anxiety, and panic all of my life. But the last 8 years I have experienced losses and traumatic events. I feel like it has all been building up on me. But never have I experienced what I have been going through this past 3 months. People say it is CFS. what do you think?

Brief Answer:
Needs evaluation.

Detailed Answer:
Hello Sir

Welcome to Healthcaremagic.

I understand your situation. After careful reading and analysis, i came to a point that either its because of lot of stress you going through or any kind of underlying disease, which is causing these symptoms. You should undergo evaluations such as Complete blood count, thyroid profile, electrocardiogram, serum sodium and potassium to rule out Anemia, Hypothyroidism, cardiovascular impairment, electrolyte disorders, which can be the culprit causing these problems.

If you have a normal report for all the above said diseases, then the last thing to be diagnosed in your case is depression(as you have a strong history).

Everything in our body is interlinked to each other, thus one disease can cause of lot of symptoms like you are having of leg pains, fatigue and flu like symptoms.

When you will be going through all these tests, which i mentioned,you should follow the rest;

1)Don’t smoke.
2)Eat a diet high in fruits, vegetables, and whole grains, and low in saturated fat.
3)Exercise regularly or take a daily walk.
4)Maintain a healthy weight.
5)Control your blood pressure.
6)If you drink alcohol, drink only in moderation.
7)Get adequate sleep.
8)Start doing meditation
9)Take fish liver oil capsules if possible.
10)Make Social Connections

Sir, lastly i would say, i am sorry about all the losses and trauma you went through in your life. We, doctors can only treat you with medications, rest depends upon you. You should have the urge to live your life to the fullest, forgetting all the past.

If you have more questions, please feel free to ask me. I would be happy to help you. Take Care. :)

Thank you for your response. Nothing that you reported surprised me since I have been spending most of my time for the last three months on the internet looking up symptoms, which has elevated my anxiety. I am not sure why I wasted your time, and I apologize for that. I have had a serious mental disorder all of my life called Iatrophobia. Not just "white coat syndrome" but an irrational, paralyzing fear that leaves me in a state of numbing fright. Because of this I have not seen a doctor for well over 25 years, and that was probably for something very minor. People don't understand that illness, and tell me just to go to the doctor. The thought of those tests makes my mind go blank. I realize that as I get older, which I am 60, that I will not have a choice. Just Iatrophobia alone could be the end to me because of denying myself medical care. I also do not have any insurance. I just sold my condo and all of my personal belongings in order to pay off old medical bills for my wife, (who passes away after 15 years of breast, bone, and liver cancer) thinking that I would be able to start over. The thought of putting myself back into debt is so unfair. But that is not your problem. So, I guess I just need to make the decision of living this way, or waiting until it is too late when something serious happens to me. Thanks for your help. I do most of those things that you mentioned, I don't smoke, and I don't drink alot. I will go out and buy some fish oil. Thanks again.

Brief Answer:
Systemic desensitization

Detailed Answer:
Hello Sir,

Welcome back.

I am sorry for you sir, my sympathy for you. Please do not apologize, i am there for you. You should not give up. There are other ways too by which you can fight with your fear, its just that you have to be determined to do it. No one else but you can help yourself right now.You can visit a psychologist(not doctors);they can help you.

If your fear is such, then priority is to treat your fear first. No need to think about any blood tests or doctors right now, but seeing a psychologist will definitely help you, i am sure.

Meanwhile you should try systemic desensitization on your own. You can read about the steps of systemic desensitization properly online and try to it in a proper way. I could not write it here, because it is difficult to explain so many things in limited words.Hope you understand.

I would again say, please see a psychologist. Do take care of yourself. Feel free to talk to me.Have a good day.
