Posted on Wed, 26 Aug 2015
Question: My one year old baby has a really stuffy nose. Finished one course of antibiotic for her but she's the same. Can I give her something else or just wait it out and let the cold and congestion go away on its own.

Brief Answer:
You can give nasal saline drop with oral decongestant

Detailed Answer:
Hello

Thanks for the query

Most common cause of cough/cold in this age is some viral infection or allergy.
Nasal blockage can cause feeding difficulty or sleep problem.
I would like to give her nasal saline drop two drops in each nostril 4-5 times a day.
Oral syrup containing antiallergic like chlorpheniramine and decongestant like phenylephrine also helps in relieving nasal blockage and cold.Get it prescribed by your pediatrician as it is a prescription medicine.
Give her frequent feed to avoid dryness of nasal mucosa.

I hope this helps.
Please do ask if you have any more query.
