Suggest Treatment For Sudden Dizziness, Tongue Sore And Pressure In Head

default
Posted on Thu, 28 Jan 2016
Question: Whenever I eat, during mental work, or sometimes just randomly I get a feeling of pressure inside my head, especially forehead and stuffiness or blockage/resistance in sinus, lightheaded dizzy, and sometimes sore tongue. My blood pressure is 130/80, no allergies detected in blood tests, I eat a clean vegetable and chicken diet no wheat, sugar etc. What could the reason be? I don't have anxiety or depression as other than these symptoms I don't have any stress in my life. Thanks.

Brief Answer:
Possible causes

Detailed Answer:
Good day Mr.Arman,
Noted your concern. There could be several causes of your symptoms.
A vascular headache could be one of the reasons. Is it on one side of head or both sides. Do you get watering or redness of eyes along with the headache?
Cluster headache and migraine are possible causes. Stuffiness and blockage in sinus area could be due to sinusitis or a deviated nasal septum. Sometimes polyps in nose also can manifest like this. Did you have an imagng of head/face area like an Xray or CT/MRI scan?
Are you diabetic?
regards
Binu

The headache is more like a dull pressure across the forehead but sometimes it is at the top part of the head or more concentrated to either side.

I do not have watering eyes but have a faint red outline sometimes. I have very mild deviated septum and no polyps but had no issues prior to August 2015

I attached my CT scan image as well as a picture of my yellow tongue to my previous reply, did you see those pictures?.

Brief Answer:
No images

Detailed Answer:
Unfortunately, i didnt get a CT scan image. Did you attach them?
If you have a dull headache on the forehead, it may be arising from sinuses itself. You may also need to get your eyes checked for vision. Problems related to eye can manifest as headache.
Lastly, eventhough you have no major stress, tension headache can present like this.

You may need to get your sise of scalp examined to look for pulses over tempral arteries to rule out a rare cause of headache ( temporal arteritis). Get a CBC and ESR blood tests done as well.

If i put my hand over my temple i can feel a pulsing vein.

Images are attached now, my apologies.

Can you also identify what is wrong with the tongue, specifically long yellow growths and soreness? no scraping, antifungals etc have cleaned it to normal.

Brief Answer:
CT images not sufficient to comment

Detailed Answer:
thank you. saw the pictures. Avaialable images are not enough to comment on sinuses. And the toungue and sides of tonsils look yellowish. Have you ever had your lipids ( cholesterol panel) done? People with high HDL ( tangier's disease) can have yellow appearing tonsils and occasionally tongue too.

Get a CBC and ESR. Please meet a neurologist as well. If there is tederness over temporal areteries, you may need further tests to confirm temporal arteritis.

Brief Answer:
Complete blood count and eythrocyte sedimentation rate

Detailed Answer:
CBC stands for complete blood count. ESR is erythrocyte sedimentation rate. ESR goes high when there is an infection or inflammation. If you have tenderness over temples and if ESR is high, it may suggest temporal arteritis.

The available CT images shows deviated nasal septum and some hypertrophy of tissues around it. The right maxillary sinus seems to have a thick lining inside which may point towards a chronic sinusitis. Of course the radiologist would have done mutiple CT scan finer sections of those areas and would have had commented at it. Even in sinusitis, ESR can go high. Both CBC and ESR are simple blood tests

radiologist stated nothing was out of the ordinary on CT scans. I have had a XXXXXXX blood test/vasculitis screen and eGFR and CRP blood tests. All came back normal.

this condition started after a number of common cold infections between december 2014 and XXXXXXX 2015. After XXXXXXX 2015 i started having a lot of infected post nasal drip. when i took antibiotics i got very dry mouth and nose from them and yellow tongue. since that
time i have had the forehead pressure and tight/congested sinus feeling with sore tongue at front.

Brief Answer:
Simple remedies.

Detailed Answer:
Okay. I must say that a normal looking CT scan does not necessarily rule out mild sinusitis. Your deviated nasal septum and turbinate hypertrophy can create mild congestion in the sinuses. The flu/cold infections which you have had would irritate the sinus and the pain and congestion can stay longer. I hope they ruled out fungal infection. I recommend that you see an ENT surgeon in person who will examine you and if required, a sinus examination by a fiber optic endoscope may be done.
Please understand that anti histamines used in common cold make secretions dry/thick which can obstruct the flow and can occasionally make sinusitis worse. A good steam inhalation also could be tried. Couple of times a day. The yellow appearing tongue also could be due to dryness ( since other causes ruled out). Saline nasal spray couple of times a day keeps the nose and sinuses moist. Even that could be tried as well
