Question: I have a strong eyeglass prescription and wear bifocals. I was knitting on the train during my commute home. When I got off the train I was lightheaded and had to stop walking because I felt like I was floating and would lose my balance if I kept walking. I found a place tto lean and stayed there for a few minutes and the diziness nad blurred vision passed. I am taking losartin for blood pressure and checked my blood pressure when I got home. It was 129/84. Could this be caused by my bifocals and chsnging the focal distance quite radically when I stood up?

Brief Answer:
These symptoms are not related to changing the bifocals.

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Welcome to Health care Magic.

I am Dr. DADAPEER K, an Ophthalmologist and I will be answering your question.

I reviewed your history.
These symptoms are not related to changing the bifocals.
These symptoms indicate dizziness or transient ischemic attack.
The common causes are hypotension or decreased blood pressure level, hypoglycemia or decreased blood sugar level....
In your case probably this has occurred because of hypotension when you have got up from the train.

No need to be worried about single episode and if the symptoms recur you need to consult your physician doctor for evaluation of blood pressure and blood sugar and vascular causes.

Hope this information is helpful to you.

Thank you
