Suggest Treatment For Swallowing Difficulty And GERD

default
Posted on Mon, 28 Sep 2015
Question: Tuesday afternoon I took two Aleve tablets and had a little difficulty swallowing (this is not unusual for me to have difficulty swallowing pills). Since then whenever I hiccup, burp, or drink a cold beverage I get a pain behind my breastbone that feels like someone is slugging me in the chest. Yes, very painful! Never have had this happen before. I am 58 years old and have no health problems really in my life (yes, I am lucky). Thanks, XXXX

Brief Answer:
GERD.

Detailed Answer:
Welcome To HCM. I am Dr Anshul Varshney. I understand your concern.
Your symptoms are classically suggestive of Acid reflux or Gastro esophageal reflux disease (GERD). This can occur due to acute acidity or injury to esophagus caused by trauma due to eating hard food item.
I advice following to my patients in such case:
1. A combination of Pantoprazole and Domperidone.

2. To take soft and bland diet for a few days.

3. To take oral anesthetic syrup like Mucaine gel for a few days.

Such issues usually resolve with in 5-7 days following the treatment.
I hope it helps you.
If you have any further query, please ask me.
