Question : I was diagnosed with Cellulitis today at a walk in clinic. Main site - nose - spread through both cheeks all the way to bridge of nose. Dr gave me a shot and prescribed Doxycycline Hyclate 100mg 2x. I've taken two doses (no food). The swelling in my face is spreading, although my lymph nodes / glands on neck are not as swollen. I haven't had a fever in 6 hours, but have taken Advil. I'm contemplating going to ER. I don't know that what he prescribed is adequate.

                                    Brief Answer:
local cleaning, antibiotics escalation
Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXX
Welcome to healthcare Magic!
I have seen your photograph.
The swelling is very angry looking infection of the skin.
Doxicycline is not a sufficient antibiotic for this type of infection.
You should consult a local physician for cleaning and dressing, and antibiotics appropriate for this will be a decision from local clinician.
In my view it should be treated with antibiotics Augmentin and levofloxacin combination at earliest possible.
Local application of Flucloxacillin cream twice a day will be also hasten the recovery.
I hope the advise would be informative and useful for you.
Take Care!
