Brief Answer:
Go for implants followed by fixed prosthesis.
Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for writing in.
I know diabetic patient have poor healing capacity. Moreover complete dentures are difficult to handle.
In my opinion its better to go for implant placement followed by bridging.
This procedure is expensive but durable & easy to manage.
Before planning for implant consult your dentist & get clinical examination done whether your ridge is suitable for implant placement. Also get your sugar level checked.
Visit your dentist & get it started as soon as possible.
Hope I answered your query
Wishing you good health

can you brief me what is implant placement and bridging. how much time it takes for the whole process? how much expensive it is? will it be covered in insurance?
Brief Answer:
It takes 6 months & costs around 1.5 lac.
Detailed Answer:
Implant placement includes placement of screws in bone & it is left for 6 months.
After 6 months when that screw called implant is fused with bone, we place cap on it & with its help whole bridge is attached or denture is attached.
We place 4-8 implants in complete denture patient.
Each implant costs around 25000 & bridging costs around 50000.This whole procedure costs around1.5-2 lac.
It is a part of cosmetic dentistry,so i dunt think it is covered in insurance.
Rest all depends on quality & dentist.

seems like a very painful process. my dad is 63 years old. he body is weak and as mentioned he is diebetic. without denture he find it very very dificult to speak and impossible to eat.
i doubt if this treatment is suitable for him!! ur suggestion?
moreover he is a businessman. taking treatment for 6 months will be tedious for him. he come to XXXXXXX once in a year XXXXXXX for 10-12 days. for his current treatment he is consulting a doctor in my native. i want some permanent treatment to be done in XXXXXXX since more facilitypies better doctors here. though yet i dont know any dentist in XXXXXXX can u suggest any?

frankly speaking XXXXXXX I am not satisfied with your answers. I found online that implant placement is not suggested to diabetic patients. moreover I also found that u r BDS but here it is showing u r MD. I would suggest u update ur correct qualification online n don't misguide anyone.

Brief Answer:
Sorry if you misunderstood...
Detailed Answer:
I know implant placement is not suggested in diabetic patient, but it can be done in controlled sugar & that is why I asked you to get sugar checked before going for implant. Since I have seen many diabetic patients going for implants without untoward incidents that is reason I suggested it. Moreover it is the best option these days & long lasting.
Secondly about my qualification, I don't think I have displayed myself as an MD in my profile. You may check my profile http://doctor.healthcaremagic.com/doctors/dr-neha-sumra/64225
I told you what I have seen in my clinical practice. It is your choice to either take an expert's opinion or web provided information. Sorry if I haven't provided a satisfactory response.
Take care
