Question : Woke up Friday with swelling in left ankle, no pain. Went to work at Home Depot for 8 hrs ,came home in pain. Took 4 ivpropin , elevated foot with ice for 40 minutes ,felt much better. Saturday much the same , ivpropin and shared a bottle of chianti with my bride. Sunday ,Church , breakfast ,same routine......pain increasing! For NO apparent reason and only in one ankle?? Suppose it could be worse..........both ankles!

I read your question and i understand your concern. Pain in ankles not responding to NSAIDs at age of 68 should be evaluated and examined. Get an x ray done and if needed MR scans to rule out any ligament sprain. Age related articular degeneration is also a possibility. Pain Killers, physiotherapy, muscle relaxants are mainstay of management. Consult your doctor and let them decide what is best for you.
