Suggest Treatment For Swelling And Pain In The Foot While On Naproxen

default
Posted on Tue, 16 Aug 2016
Question: I twisted my right foot about a week ago. There is no swelling and no bruising but the top of my foot is very painful. I cannot put weight on it. Flexing it also hurts. I have been taking Naproxen two times a day. I have been icing it, also. In order to get around, I have been using a pair of crutchs that we have.

Brief Answer:
Needs a Xray and orthopedician review

Detailed Answer:
Hi ! Welcome to health care magic! Thanks for sharing your concerns with us. We will try to help you in best way possible.

First of all, it is sad to know what you had gone through. Based on the history you have shared, it can be an ankle sprain involving soft tissue only or it may also involve some ligament around the joint.

X-ray of the foot should also be done to rule out any hair line fracture or bony defragmentation. Using Naproxen like you have mentioned and other analgesics like Acetaminophen or Ibuprofen for short term will help with the pain and inflammation but use of antibiotics like Co-Amoxycalv or Cephradine for soft tissue inflammation may be needed.

Meanwhile avoid putting repeated pressure on the affected side and take rest, also please schedule for the review of an orthopedician for a detailed clinical assessment. Keep the feet elevated if possible..

Hope this has answered your query, if you have any more questions, feel free to ask.
Regards.
