Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for your query and an elucidate history related to your medical and surgical problems.
Read and understood your history, current medication and known allergies.
Noted that you had previous peripheral angioplasties , but is this time the swelling, bruising and pain occurred starting from the site area and now spread to the thigh, calf and behind the knee; the discoloration is down to ankle and the pain is terrible.
Since you have undergone the procedure on August 4, it is almost a week since the procedure.
It looks from your history that there was a leakage of blood from the site of puncture and the blood got extravasated causing all the symptoms that you have and spreading to the dependent area as the skin may be lax and the under-surface might have allowed the spread of the blood, through the potential space.
Icing may not really help now as it is almost a week.
It is possible that the shear pressure in the initial phase would have avoided this complication.
I would advise you the following in such a situation.
Compression bandage may help to reduce the spread further,
Elevation of the lower limb (leg) above the heart level in sleeping position help to reduce the edema and hence the pain .
If there is evidence of infection, antibiotic may be needed.
Please continue the medicines as you have been taking.
Get the relevant investigations including the coagulation profile just to confirm that it is normal.
Ideally this should not have caused any such complications and but once appeared we should get the proper rest, elevation of the limb when in bed and medicines for pain and inflammation. Tylenol is paracetamol and should not be taken with Norco as it may potentially cause more sedation, fainting and so on.
There is no definite medicines for such an occurrence.
Get a color doppler of the lower limbs to see the changes if any and to get treated accordingly.
I hope this answer helps you to get a proper diagnosis, and get a proper further treatment. Please feel free to ask for more or if you need further clarifications or if you feel there is a gap of communication.
