Suggest Treatment For Swelling And Painful Rashes On The Foot

default
Posted on Sat, 19 Nov 2016
Question: Hi, I have developed swelling and a burning rash that that is painful to the slightest touch, looks bruised across the top of my feet with red irregular blotches working up my legs. None of the rash is raised. As far as I can tell I have not come into contact with anything new. I don't recall eating anything I don't normally eat. I am overweight (not a symptom, just a fact). I also had a migraine for the last 24 hours when this rash appears, but that may be unrelated. Also, no fever

Hi XXXX, welcome to HCM, It does seem like an allergy.Did you take any pills for your migraine attack? Also did you go swimming or wear new socks/ stockings?

You can use Caladryl lotion on the blotches. And you can also take a tablet like Fexofenadine 120 mg once a day for a week. If it does not improve, do see your doctor--regards

Thanks Dr. XXXXXXX No, I have not worn anything new on my feet nor have I gone swimming. I took Tylenol for the migraine, but the rash had appeared just prior to it. Also, I am currently breastfeeding. Is the medication you suggest safe for breastfeeding?

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXX, had a look at the pictures. Does seem like an allergic reaction. No, you cannot take Fexofenadine if you are breast feeding. It is unsafe.

Well we are left with only local Caladryl--hope it works. Sometimes it clears up on its own. If it does not reduce, or starts to increase, I would like you to see your doctor. All the best--regards

How long should it take before I start to see results? Right now it appears to be getting worse.

Detailed Answer:
hi XXXX, If it is getting worse, I definitely want you to consult your doctor regarding medication. I really do not want to put the baby in any kind of risk, prescribing medication without really seeing you. If you were not breast feeding I would have suggested some options. I really wish I could have helped you more. All the best--and regards
