Hello!

Welcome and thank you for asking on HCM!

I carefully passed through your question and would explain that the changes to your arm are related to a subcutaneous hematoma. You should know that the changes in color are normal after this type of bleeding.

From the other hand, we do not know how long has the bleeding continued.

Sometimes stopping warfarin is not enough to stop bleeding and vitamin k is needed.

Anyway, I recommend consulting with your attending physician and performing a complete blood count and coagulation tests, including INR.

If INR is below 0.0 you should consider restarting warfarin.

Hope to have been helpful!

Kind regards,

Dr. Iliri

I saw a doctor four days ago. He did a finger stick INR. Advised to stop Warfarin for two days and have another PT INR at Labcorp on July 6 and see him on July 12.

Will heat or ultra sound help in accelerating the absorbing of the subcutaneous hematoma? It is irritating around the elbow area which is swollen.

Detailed Answer:
Hello again!

I recommend going to the ER for a new INR test and a physical exam.

I would not recommend heat procedures as they can cause vasodilation and thus continuous bleeding.

Hope to have been helpful!
