Suggest Treatment For Swelling In The Hand And Gout

Question: My Doctor said the swelling in my hand was psuedo ? gout related to straining my hand during yoga. I don't think I've remembered the correct term he used. He prescribed a dosage of Prednesone for 8 days(declining numbers. What is the correct term he used?

Well, there is a term called pseudogout( calcium pyrophosphate crystals)...It is different form of gout with different crystals in the joint. but more or less the treatment remains the same for which you have been given the steroid dose.It should resolve with time. But Yoga is not a triggering factor for it. It can happen in joints which have decreased cartilage in them( osteoarthritis ones)
