Question : I fell a week ago Wednesday. I am 69 and my left knee took the brunt of my weight. Knee swelled and that has gone down but there remains discomfort in the form of pain when I push on my knee. Very bad if I try to put weight on it as in getting into bed. Feels like pieces of sharp things under the skin. It is getting less acute each day though.

Brief Answer:
I would suggest you to get x ray of knee joint

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
I have studied your case and I think you are having soft tissue injury of knee joint. I would suggest you following.
1.Avoid squatting, sitting cross leg and using stairs.
2.Do not walk on hard surface.
3.Hot water fomentation and knee cap can be worn.
4.You can get x ray of knee joint in case pain does not improve after 10 days. Some time this can be due to Knee arthritis also.
I hope these steps will be helpful for you. Let me know if you have any other follow up questions. Thanks
