Question : 10 days ago I was kicked by my horse in the area between hip and back pockets if I were wearing jeans (the saddlebag region, if you will...) I have almost no more pain but have a swelling about 3"x4" which feels uneven, as though there are pockets in it. I started with icing it only but it did not go down, so I went to an urgent care center and they said to take hot baths, massage it, ice it and wear a compression bandage. Is this the correct treatment? I bought a theraputic massager that has a heat setting and have been using that.
Should I keep icing it as well? I really want this lump to go away. The bruising is much less now and is spreading down my leg as expected.
I appreciate your input. Thank you.

Brief Answer:
Upload an image for review!

Detailed Answer:
HI and thanks so much for this query.

Icing is all that is needed. This was mainly to control pain and avoid inflammation. If there is much blood collection, it will manifest with persistent pain, changes of the skin surface and swelling. I will like to obtain an image and review for this. In the event of excessive blood extravasation and collection, you will need to have it drained. For now, there is not much in favor of that.

Here are the pics. I circled the swollen lump. So you don't think i should apply heat to it?

Brief Answer:
Continuing application of ice packs.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

I have reviewed the attached image fully. Ice packs for now is all that is required. Resolution would continue and the lump would eventually be completely résorbéd. There are no signs suggestive of an infection.

I wish you well. Keep me updated.
