Posted on Tue, 18 Oct 2016
Question: I have a large swelling at the lowest part of my scrotem , when squeezed it produces blood and puss with an awful stink. it happened awhile back and produced a pimple like white substance then went away but has come back in a bad way. not very painfull but swollen a lot larger with much more blood and puss. get some relief after draining it but not sure of the cause. could it be an infected ingrown hair? I don't think std.it has produced in my opinion a lot of blood and puss but swelling seems to of gone down after squeezing it out then washed with antibactieral soap and triple antibiotic?

Brief Answer:
It is a Sebaceous cyst.

Detailed Answer:
Hi.
Welcome to Health Care Magic and Thanks for the question.
This is most likely a Sebaceous cyst of the Scrotum which is a cyst from the oil secreting glands of the skin and is the commonest swelling in that area. They contain foul smelling white colored gruel like material and ideally should not be poked or ruptured or they can get infected. They become painful only when they are infected. Otherwise require no treatment. If it is red, discharging or painful then keep it clean and covered with antibiotic cream and take a course of antibiotics like Tab Augmentin 1gm twice a day for 5 days and let it heal. Get it removed after a few months when the infection has completely settled down.
There is no need to worry. It will heal easily.
Take care and do let me know if there are any queries on this issue.
